Wind Energy Research and Co-ordination (fk-wind)

In order to strengthen further the already successful position of the Federal State of Bremen as an important location for wind energy and the corresponding co-operation between scientific institutions and organisations as well as the increasingly close working relations with the business community, in the spring of 2003 the senate of the Federal State of Bremen ratified the setting up of an interdisciplinary co-ordination and research unit for offshore technologies.
The “Wind Energy Research and Co-ordination Unit” (fk-Wind) which evolved as a result was able to start operating at the beginning of 2004 in close co-operation with the Bremerhaven / Bremen Wind Energy Agency (Windenergie-Agentur Bremerhaven / Bremen e.V. (WAB)). Thanks to its location at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the close links to the Maritime Technologies Department, the Research and Co-ordination Unit is firmly integrated in the scientific infrastructure of the Federal State of Bremen. The unit is supported by the Senator for Construction, Environment and Traffic of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen and co-financed by funds from the European Regional Development Fund.
