With the increasing importance of the logistics as an economic factor in a globalized world, the issue of security is becoming more important. Especially in the field of transport industry, new strategies for risk assessment and risk prevention as well as the corresponding legal knowledge are urgently needed.
The worldwide unique Institute for Logistics Law and Risk Management (ILRM) responds to these demands. Founded in 2003, the institute advises companies in the transport and logistics sector and offers them specific continuing training and seminars. The focus of the work is to develop solutions to legal issues in the field of transport law, insurance law and logistics law and to deal with issues about transport and contract risks and loading security. By means of counselling and trainings, the ILRM contributes greatly to the triad of law, economy and technology which is of fundamental importance for logistical projects. Thanks to the close connection with the economic and technological knowledge of the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven, complex tasks can be solved effectively.
Insights acquired by the institute during its activities are used in the teaching, and therefore, of benefit to students who can, apart from that, also rely on competences and contacts of the ILRM when working on their Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis.
