In order to prepare students for their later profession in a targeted manner, extensive practical work and exercises are foreseen in the course which are taught in small groups. In general, the Bachelor course has a very clear practical focus which teaches students know-how and skills, above all in medical subjects, which are established on the foundation of a basic theoretical education. This takes place with state-of-the-art equipment which includes largescale apparatus and complex systems in live operation. This challenge of a practice-oriented education is met by the involvement of specialists from healthcare institutions as well as enterprises from the medical engineering industry, partly with the support of state-of-the-art medical engineering diagnostics and therapy. Through the possibility to obtain additional qualifications in conjunction with certification by external institutions, a further level of practice-oriented training is reached. The scientific practical project and the bachelorthesis gives the course an additional practical orientation where students work independently on a project from the field of medical engineering science. The topic tackled can either stem from technical or medical practice.
