Within the seven-term Production Engineering course, project work is foreseen in various subjects which is primarily undertaken in small groups. Thus, for example, a business game with a manufacturing focus in the subject of Machine and Plant Planning sharpens students’ application of the knowledge acquired in the accompanying lecture to a specific question and also trains their team ability. In the fifth term, a practical placement lasting 100 working days is foreseen for students. In this part of the course, students are presented with the challenge of experiencing the problems faced by companies under real ”engineer’s conditions” at the facilities of a manufacturing entrepreneur and of solving them using practical tools. Students are supported by two mentors, one from the University and one from the host enterprise.
