All of the audio/ video conferences, as well as online lectures at our Universities are held on BigBlueButton. BBB is a system for web conferencing and it provides the facilities of a digital classroom. You can use it for online conferences as it allows you to share your screen, presentations and videos. The participants usually are enabled to write their questions in the chat, give instant feedback with emojis or to use tools like the shared notebook.

Important: the more participants share their video, the greater is the load on the participants´ computers, as the video streams are sent from each client to every other client.

The Jitsi-Server is a system for video/audio conferencing that is available to all members of the university for meetings, committee meetings or lectures. It is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized group work which is why it can also be used to support student working groups. Students can set up a Jitsi room for a study group meeting themselves.

Buddy Program

What is taken for granted by Germans might turn into a challenge for international students; not just because of initial language barriers but also because of different mentalities, mind sets and habits:
Transferring the rent? Giving a presentation? Making an appointment in German?

Here, the support of Buddies is needed!

What is the Buddy program?

The aim of the Buddy program is the intercultural meeting of local students with students from abroad. Your Buddy can help you with practical things like picking you up at the airport/train station and the orientation in Bremerhaven during the first time. But also the exchange of languages, cultures and international experience is important and often new friendships develop.

This basic idea is behind the Buddy program is to organize a groups of students in which the members take care of each other, support each other and help out of problems. Students from Bremerhaven simplify international students the start into their studies, they help with day-to-day issues and take over special responsibility for their social integration.

The Buddies in Bremerhaven are not paid for their service, but support you voluntary.

Check out LEI on Facebook. For further information about the Buddy program send an Email to:
