Application

All exchange students who would like to study at Halmstad University need to apply online at first. On this website you will be guided step by step through the application process and you will receive information on the required documents. All application documents can then be uploaded to the plattform Moveon via an own account. For this process, a Transcript of Records is needed in English. Student should print their Admission Letter for their exchange studies from the website universityadmissions.se before travelling to Sweden

Required Language Level
An English level of B2 is recommended.
The exact requirements for each course/ each programme are clearly stated in the respective course description. Therefore, it is recommended to read those thoroughly.

 

Semester Dates

Winter term: Late August - Mid January

Summer term: Mid January - Early June

Orientation Week:
The Orientation Week takes place for the winter term in the week before the start of the semester and for the summer term in the first couple of days after the start of the semester. 

 

Courses

Here you find an overview of the course offer in English at Halmstad University which are especially organized for international students. 

Each semester is divided into two parts. Usually, courses are then only taught in one half of the semester.

Due to limited seats in each course, there is no 'add and drop' period and changes of courses upon arrival are very restricted.

Grading System
At Halmstad Univesrity you will probably find one of the following grading systems:
– Pass or Fail
–VG, G, U/Fail in descending order
–5, 4, 3, U in descending order
–A, B,C, D, E, FX, F in descending order

Costs of living: In general, the costs of living may differ depending on the style of living of a person. Nevertheless, the overview below is supposed to give you a first impression on the upcoming costs per month.

- Food: 2.500 Swedish kronur (approx. 245€)
- Accommodation: 2.700-3.500 Swedish kronur (approx. 265-340€)
- Telephone, TV: 600 Swedish kronar (approx. 60€)
- Medical care/ hygiene: 300 Swedish kronur (approx. 30€)
- Clothes/ Free-time activities: 600 Swedish kronur (approx. 60€)
- Course books: 500 Swedish kronur (approx. 50€)

In total there is a sum of 8.000 Swedish kronur (approx. 780€) that one can expect per month. Please keep in mind that it is necessary to proof a monthly income of 8.190 Swedish kronur (approx. 800€) when applying for a residence permit.

Visa and residence permit: The Swedish Migration Agency 'Migrationsverket' offers further information on visa application and the receipt of an residence permit.
