Application

All incoming exchange students to Halmstad should apply online. All exchange students need to make two different online applications in two systems. You need to apply to the local application system at Halmstad University but also through the national system universityadmissions.se. The processes are similar and here you will find a summary of the steps. You will find a more detailed information regarding the application process to our national system as well as course selection. Please note that the two applications must be completed before we will be able to process your application.

Enclose required documents
- Transcript of Records (in English)
- confirmation of nomination (provided by the International Office at the home institution)
- English proficiency (if available)
- Copy of passport showing photograph, full name, and passport number

The entrance requirements for each course/programe are always clearly stated in the prospectus / course descriptions. Please read the requirements carefully.

Once Halmstad University has received the printed and signed original application it will be registered and forwarded to the school in question where the application will be processed. Each school will send out the admission letter to those students that fulfil the entry requirements.

Autumn semester: Late August - Mid January

Spring semester: Mid January - Early June

Orientation week
1 week before lectures start. There is only an orientation week for the Autumn semester.

Courses

Courses in English 
Halmstad University is experiencing a high demand for several courses, especially within the study areas of business and humanities, which means that the students must be aware of that we cannot guarantee all of their preferred choices. Due to this Halmstad University will also need to be more strict concerning requests of studies within an area which is not covered by our exchange agreement. We will only accept students to study a maximum of 30 ECTS per semester.

Further Information

Once the students have been selected by their home university to study at Halmstad University on an exchange programme they should fill in and send in an application to our International Office. All students must apply online. The students are expected to select courses at this stage. Courses available can be found on our web page. The students should choose at least four courses consisting of 7,5 higher education credits each for the studies to be regarded as full time studies. One semester of full time studies comprise of 30 credits.

Once the student has been admitted to Halmstad University the Student Union will send out information regarding accommodation. It is very important that the students apply for accommodation since it is almost impossible for incoming students to find accommodation on their own. It is essential that the application deadlines are kept in order for the Student Union to find accommodation to all incoming exchange students!
