Service & Facilities - Summer School

  • Visa Support: If you need a visa for entering Germany, you will have to apply for a visa at your nearest German Embassy or Consulate. We generally recommend to you to apply for a tourist visa for the Summer School period. The Bremerhaven International Summer School office provides support during the visa application for visa nationals. Due to the time it takes for embassies to process visa applications, please submit the visa application at the embassy on time.
  • Pick-up Service: Our Summer School team will pick up all participants from Bremen City Airport and Bremen Central Train Station. The best way to travel to Bremerhaven from overseas is by airplane via Frankfurt, Hamburg or Bremen. Furthermore, you can also travel to Bremen and eventually to Bremerhaven by train from any town or city within Germany - or from the neighbouring countries like the Netherlands (Amsterdam), France, Belgium within the Schengen agreement. Your German visa entitles you to a four days transit period.
  • Accommodation: All participants will stay in a comfortable hostel or business hotel for the whole period of the Summer School, including arrival and departure days. A linen bale (which contains a duvet, duvet cover, sheet, towel, pillow and pillowcase) is provided for all guests. You can choose between a multi-bed room and a single room in a business hotel for an additional charge. Please indicate this on the registration form.
  • Catering: Two meals are included in the participation fees. Breakfast is offered directly at your hotel and lunch is provided at the university canteen. It is a self-service cafeteria offering a three course meal. Vegetarian options are also available. We also provide drinks and snacks at our Summer School Students' Café. It is right next to the lecture rooms and will also be the place to meet and come together for students and lectures.
  • Course Materials: Each participant receives a folder with all information needed during the Summer School period including a study programme and course handouts, an emergency contact list, a map of Bremerhaven as well as further information about cultural activities and tourist attractions.
  • Local Transportation: Each Summer School participant receives a bus ticket valid for bus transportation within Bremerhaven during the entire Summer School period.
  • IT-Services: A PC pool providing internet access can be used by the participants during the breaks at the university. All hotels are also equipped with high-speed WiFi.

Our International Summer School team is also right there for you to offer service and support via e-mail, phone or in person.
