Award for innovative teaching methods and inspiring event concepts

This year, the Teaching Award of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences goes to Prof. Dr. Birgit Vock-Wannewitz. The professor of business administration with a focus on organisation and human resources received the award for her outstanding teaching methods at the graduation ceremony. The award winner was suggested by her students. "I would like to thank my students from the bottom of my heart for nominating me and the jury for this award. The fact that my efforts to teach more in my courses than what is required in terms of content are seen makes me very happy," says the professor.

Prof. Dr. Vock-Wannewitz has been a substitute professor at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences since 2017 and a business administration professor since November 2020, and has held the position of deputy dean in Faculty 2 since March 2021. In her courses, she uses modern and interactive methods that not only relate to practice but also stimulate discussion. Last year, she had her students develop virtual tours of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the Thai partner university KMUTNB in Bangkok for the topic "Employer Branding", which can now also be found online. In addition to their teaching methods, the students particularly praise the support provided by their professor with a wide range of individual questions in the letters of reference.

 "The student letters of reference convinced us of the event concepts and clearly expressed their enthusiasm for Prof. Dr. Birgit Vock-Wannewitz's teaching. This was also clearly reflected in the results of the teaching evaluation. In particular, the variety of methods and the practical relevance of the teaching, the very pleasant teaching and learning atmosphere as well as the innovative practical projects were appreciated by the jury," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Patrick Frohberg, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Services.

Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the Verein zur Förderung der Hochschule Bremerhaven e.V. (Association for the Promotion of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences) present the Teaching Award for excellent teaching every year. The prize is endowed with 1,000€.
