Background:

Cristina Oschmann holds a graduate degree in Business Administration (Dipl.- Kauffrau) with focus on Tourism Management from the University of Lüneburg as well as an MA in Adult Education from the University of Kaiserslautern.

She has been a practitioner in the tourism industry for 15 years, working for tour operators, hotel groups and incoming agencies in different source markets and destinations.

Her fields of expertise include destination services, product management, marketing & sales, project and quality management.

She works as a freelance travel quality manager and consultant.

Her research interests lie primarily in literary and film-induced tourism as well as health tourism.

Schemmann, Brita

Background:

Brita Schemmann works as a research assistant and freelance lecturer at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. As an external student she is also working towards her PhD at the Innovation Studies Department at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

After a vocational training in the south of England she studied communication studies, political science and sociology at Münster University and Leicester University. She received an MA in Mass Communications and started her career working for the coporate communications and media relations department at the newly founded Jacobs University in Bremen. Later she became head of marketing and communications at Goethe University Frankfurt. In 2006 she left the higher education sector, first taking up a postion as head of marketing and communications at Hamburg Port Authority and later as a PR consultant at a communications agency.

Spiegel, Steffen

Name: Diplom-Kaufmann (FH) Steffen Spiegel
Position: Lecturer

Background:

Steffen Spiegel has worked in tourism for more than ten years. Starting in a travel agency and moving on to a tour operator he finally arrived in the cruise business. He worked aboard and ashore in different positions including several years as Shore Excursion Manager, Expedition Leader and Cruise Director on standard and luxury class vessels. In between, he finished his studies of International Tourism Management in Bremen. Of course, the subject of his diploma thesis was related to the cruise industry: Market opportunities for a new cruise ship for the small cruise company he was working for at that time. Steffen Spiegel is now a self-employed consultant to the tourism industry focussing on destination and cruise management. He currently gives lectures on tourism at different Universities of Applied Sciences in Germany.
