Working Abroad

In many cases the internship is the student’s first time working full-time. Doing this as part of their studies is very helpful as internships should give the students a good idea of the kind of professional roles they may be taking up after graduating and offer them opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in their studies. Especially in the tourism industry students will need to learn how to work with people from different cultures and an internship abroad is a perfect way to get used to this. Many students take this opportunity to work onboard a cruise ship. They can do this as a receptionist, tour escort or in guest relations. Former students have worked onboard ships of cruise lines such as AIDA, Norwegian Cruise Line, Costa Crociere or Hapag Lloyd.

Of course, students can also work on land, possibilities range from travel agencies, tour operator and hotels to start-ups and non-governmental organizations.

The International Office offers help in finding a suitable internship and financing it. ERASMUS+ and PROMOS offer financial help. Students can also get in contact whit CTM Alumni who are always happy to share their experiences and give recommendations.
