QuasiMA

The goal of the QuasiMA project consortium is to develop an innovative, culture-independent method for the identification and characterization of microbial communities, thereby ensuring quality assurance in production. An analytical workflow beginning with a culture pellet and proceeding through DNA extraction and qPCR for purity assessment is to be developed. Its application in algae production will be tested in the laboratory using representative co-cultivation experiments and production samples. By the end of the project period, a standardized and automated process based on centrifugal microfluidics is expected to be developed, enabling precise and quantitative determination of purity and potential contaminants.
