Attention chess enthusiasts! From Saturday 20 April to Sunday 21 April, the first Bremerhaven University Chess Days will take place in the university canteen (An der Karlstadt 8, Bremerhaven) as part of the 44th North German Blitz Chess Team Championships (NBMM). All information on the Chess Days, preliminary programme, prize money and registration can be found at www.bsg2020.de.

As an evening event for players with a German rating (DWZ) below 2000, a simultaneous event with a maximum of 30 participants will be played with the International Master Jonathan Carlstedt on 20 April from 7 pm. If you register in advance by 17 April at info@BSG2020.de, the fee is 5 euros, otherwise 8 euros. The fee will be collected in cash. When registering, participants must state their first and last name and, if applicable, their university or club affiliation. All participants must register in person in the canteen from 18:30 on the day of the tournament. After 18:45, any unused pre-registered places will be released.

On Sunday, 21 April, the first Bremerhaven University Rapid Chess Championship will take place from 11 am. In addition to Bremerhaven students, interested children and young people are cordially invited to take part. However, they should have some tournament experience and be familiar with the electronic chess clock. Places are limited to 20 for pupils and 40 for students.
Pre-registration is requested by 17 April by email to info@BSG2020.de with the subject "BHSSM 2024". First name, surname and university or school affiliation must be stated when registering. The reduced fee for pre-registration is 10 euros. If you register on the day of the tournament, you will be charged 15 euros. All participants must register in person on the day of the tournament between 10.15 am and 10.45 am.

The city is expecting around 120 top players from northern Germany, including numerous title holders, to take part in the North German Blitz Chess Team Championships, which are being held in Bremerhaven for the first time. According to the Bremerhaven Chess Society, this will probably be the biggest chess event in the seaside city for ninety years. 29 pre-qualified teams from northern Germany will take part in the NBMM 2024. The Bremerhaven Chess Society, as the organiser, will provide an additional team. A limited number of spectators are permitted.
