Bremerhaven Philharmonic Orchestra plays anniversary concert on 25 June at 7:30 pm

Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the Bremerhaven Philharmonic Orchestra are jointly organising a special birthday serenade to mark the university's anniversary celebrations. On Wednesday 25 June at 19:30, the large technical hall of House Z (An der Karlstadt 8, Bremerhaven) will be transformed into a concert hall. Works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Einojuhani Rautavaara will be performed. The event is barrier-free. Admission is free of charge, but a donation is requested to support the events to mark the university's anniversary. A limited number of tickets will be available from 17 June at the Stuca (student café) on campus. This is open Mon-Fri between 9am and 5pm.

For the symphony concert to mark the anniversary, General Music Director Marc Niemann has put together a programme that translates the university's focal points into music. This includes Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's overture ‘The Hebrides’ op. 26 and his popular violin concerto in E minor op. 64, which will be performed by the young violin soloist Lir Vaginsky. As a special birthday present, the Philharmoniker will perform the concerto for birdsong and orchestra, ‘Cantus Arcticus’, by Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara.
