Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences awards Germany Scholarship to 31 students
Funding for outstanding achievements and commitment
Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences awarded the Germany Scholarship for the 2025/26 academic year during a festive evening event. A total of 31 students can look forward to receiving the award and financial support. The scholarships are made possible by federal funds and the commitment of 15 donors from Bremerhaven, Bremen, Geestland and the surrounding region. Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences is thus continuing its goal of supporting talented and committed students in many subject areas.
‘A big thank you goes to our sponsors, who support students with their contributions and give them valuable freedom for their studies, research and charitable work,’ emphasised Prof. Dr.-Ing. Patrick Frohberg, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Services, in his speech. He also expressed his gratitude to the scholarship holders: ‘We are proud of your achievements and commitment – stay curious, responsible and active. Our society needs smart, knowledgeable and committed people like you.’ Special thanks also went to Marnie Stockfisch, who is responsible for coordinating the scholarship programme at the university.
When the Germany Scholarship was first awarded 14 years ago, the university had ten scholarships available. Today, in the winter semester of 2025/26, 31 scholarships were awarded. Compared to the previous year, this represents a further increase in the number of scholarships. In addition to providing financial support to students, the exchange between sponsors and scholarship holders creates added value for both sides.
The Germany Scholarship has been awarded throughout Germany since 2011. It supports high-achieving students whose career paths suggest they will go on to achieve outstanding results in their studies and careers. The concept of performance encompasses not only very good grades, but also social engagement. The students who receive funding receive a monthly scholarship of 300 euros, regardless of their income, half of which is financed by the federal government and half by private sponsors. The scholarship can be continued until the end of the standard period of study, provided that the relevant eligibility criteria are met.
