And what role do courage, creativity and humility play in breaking new ground? The professor of entrepreneurship education at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences answers these and other questions in the latest episode of the science podcast ‘Hirn gehört – Oldenburger Wissensschnack’. In it, she talks about her academic career, her experiences in Namibia and her work in the innovative ‘Team Academy’ study model of the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership degree programme. The podcast ‘Hirn gehört: Oldenburger Wissensschnack’ aims to share stories from everyday research life and make science understandable in an entertaining way. Every third Thursday of the month, hosts Dr Bianca Brüggen and Dr Jens-Steffen Scherer chat with scientists from the Oldenburg region about their path into science and their research. The podcast presents the people behind the research and shows how diverse the scientific landscape in Oldenburg and the surrounding area is. The fact that life paths are usually not straightforward and that there have been a few failures along the way is a recurring theme in the conversations. The recording was supervised by Svenja Grebener, research assistant at the Institute for Economic Education (IÖB Oldenburg).
The audio podcast is based on event formats such as ‘Hirn vom Hahn’ (Brain from the Tap), ‘Science Slam’ and ‘Science Pub’. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the idea arose to continue this knowledge transfer as an audio podcast so that more interested parties could learn about the work of scientists. ‘Hirn gehört’ is a joint project of the Oldenburg Network for Science Communication (OLWIK for short), which various Oldenburg scientific institutions have joined: Schlaues Haus Oldenburg gGmbH, Jade University of Applied Sciences, the University of Oldenburg with its Centre for Teacher Training – Didactic Centre (DiZ) and the Neurosensory Research Centre (FZN), the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), OFFIS – Institute for Information Technology, European Science Communication Institute (ESCI), Oldenburg Energy Cluster – OLEC e.V. and the Institute for Economic Education (IÖB Oldenburg). The podcast is coordinated by Schlaue Haus Oldenburg and financially supported by Jade University of Applied Sciences.
