University and Language Centre host Language Week

University

One-hour taster sessions from 22 to 26 September at 6 p.m.

Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the Language Centre of the Universities in the State of Bremen are jointly hosting a Language Week from 22 to 26 September, each day from 6 to 7 p.m., in the Cruise Lab of the university (Building S, Room 102, entrance on Columbusstraße). Short workshops will give anyone interested the opportunity to try out Bengali, German sign language, French and Arabic. In keeping with the European Day of Languages on Friday, 26 September, Dr. phil. Anne Gadow from the University of Bremen will speak about multilingualism in educational institutions. Participation is free of charge. Further details on the programme can be found at www.hs-bremerhaven.de/en/whats-new/events/equal-opportunity/language-week.

Language Week aims to show that language should not only be seen as a barrier, but that diversity also brings opportunities. The Centre for Equal Opportunities and Diversity at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the student initiative InkluZone and the Language Centre of the Universities in the State of Bremen worked closely together to organise the event and developed the short taster courses in collaboration with experts and students. Anyone who would like to learn more about one of the languages on offer is welcome to participate.
