Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences modernises five Bachelor's degree programmes
Start of studies possible in winter semester 2025/26
Companies are constantly facing new challenges that they can only master with well-trained specialists. It is therefore important that universities regularly take a critical look at their degree programmes and adapt them to the new requirements. Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences has modernised five of its Bachelor's degree programmes. Food Science (also practice-integrated dual), Sustainable Process Engineering and Transport, Economics, Logistics will be accepting students for the first time in the winter semester 2025/26. Two specialisations of the Engineering degree programme will also start with new names and content.
One of the traditional degree programmes, Food Technology/Food Business, has been fundamentally revised and will start next winter semester under the name Food Science. Students will then be able to choose from two specialisations: Food Technology with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and Food Economics with a Bachelor of Science degree. Nutrition and functional food, alternative products, eCommerce, digital marketing and other current topics have been included in the curriculum. It is now possible to start the programme in the winter and summer semesters. Further information can be found at www.hs-bremerhaven.de/en/study/study-programmes/food-science.
The Food Science (practice-integrated dual) degree programme, formerly Food Technology/Food Business (practice-integrated dual), will also benefit from the changes. In addition to a more flexible start to the programme in the winter and summer semesters and two specialisations, students can look forward to an even higher proportion of practical experience. They also have more options if they already have practical experience. Further information can be found at www.hs-bremerhaven.de/Food-Science-workintegrated-dual-learning-cooperative-education.
For around forty years, the Transport/Logistics degree programme has trained logistics all-rounders. It has now been renamed Transport, Economics, Logistics. Another innovation: students can now choose from two specialisations - Logistics Management with a Bachelor of Science degree and Logistics Engineering with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. In addition, the standard period of study has been extended to 7 semesters and a practical semester or semester abroad has been incorporated into the curriculum. The Sustainable Energy and Environmental Technologies degree programme will be called Sustainable Process Engineering from the coming winter semester. This name clearly indicates what students can expect to learn: The degree programme deals with sustainable process engineering, i.e. topics relevant to the future such as the production of hydrogen from renewable energies, green fuels, chemicals and materials, carbon capture technologies and energy efficiency. Two specialisations in the Engineering degree programme have also been revised. The Plant Engineering specialisation will become Ship and Plant Engineering in the coming winter semester. The Maritime Technologies specialisation will start in the new semester with the name Marine Technology and Wind Energy. Changes to the content will make graduates even more attractive to companies in the region. Further information can be found at www.hs-bremerhaven.de/Engineering.
