Student Steward Sustainable Process Engineering

Hi there! My name is Ben Grünewald and I’ve been studying Sustainable Process Engineering (SPE) since the 2025/26 winter semester. With just three students at the moment, we’re the very definition of ‘small but mighty’. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have and look forward to hearing from you!

More about me

I’ve always been fascinated by the natural sciences – whether it’s maths, physics, chemistry or biology. I finished my A-levels in 2025 and then spent some time travelling around Scandinavia. After that, I applied for the Sustainable Process Engineering course at fairly short notice and have been very happy with my choice of degree ever since.

The SPE programme covers a wide range of subject areas and, thanks to the breadth of optional modules available from the fourth semester onwards, offers plenty of opportunities and freedom – which ultimately won me over. You’ll explore aspects of process engineering and sustainability, so that by the time you graduate, you’ll be equipped to tackle all the challenges facing modern industry and society.

I have a Golden Retriever who enjoys being near the sea even more than I do. I also play handball – both for a local club and for the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences team – and am involved in the sports club as a coach, as well as serving as an active member of the volunteer fire brigade.

I look forward to hearing from you and perhaps welcoming you to Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences soon.
