The Medical Technologies (Medizintechnik) bachelor’s degree programme consists of 7 semesters, one of which is a professional practice semester. The programme covers the basic interdisciplinary principles as well as the highly topical areas of medical apparatus technology, medical process chains, materials specific to medicine, medical measurement technology, medical signal processing, medical visualisation and health economics. It also delves into topics on strengthening professional social skills. A support and advisory programme was established as one aspect of the study organisation, based on the pillars of study guidance, assessment of suitability and mentoring. The teaching and learning methods were restructured, primarily through the involvement of external experts in a large number of courses.
Forging tomorrow's medical technologists
Medical technologies are regarded worldwide as among the key enabling technologies of the 21st century. Higher life expectancy, growing health awareness and technical innovations are growth drivers for an industry that is on the rise, especially in Germany. The need for modern medical technologies that help to detect, prevent or treat diseases at an early stage will continue to rise in the future – not least due to demographic change. In any case, the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology equips graduates with a qualification that enables them to successfully invigorate and advance one of the most sustainable industries of our time.
