Prof. Dr. Andree Kirchner lehrt seit 2005, seit 2007 als Honorarprofessor an der Hochschule Bremerhaven. Er lehrt "Seevölkerrecht" im Studiengang "Maritime Technologien" und "Recht und Ethik in der Biotechnologie" im Studiengang "Biotechnologie mariner Ressourcen". Er ist zudem Gründungsdirektor des Institutes für Seevölkerrecht und Internationales Meeresumweltrecht (ISRIM), ein Forschungsinstitut der Hugo Grotius gGmbH - gemeinnützige Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Rechtswissenschaften in Bremen.
