Teaching, Research and Activities

After nearly 20 years of practising law in the fields of (inter)national trade and transport law, I moved to Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. I bring the experience and networks I gained during this time to my teaching and research.

The „Lebensmittel- und Transportrechts-Institut“ (Food and Transport Law Institute, LTRI) was founded in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Wenk, bringing together the expertise of Faculty 1 in food technology and Faculty 2 in logistics. In addition to teaching in various degree programmes, I am involved in self-administration as a member of the Ethics and Library Commission.

2023/2024 German delegate to the UNCITRAL Working Group I for the creation of the Model Law on Warehouse Receipts (uncitral.un.org/en/mlwr) to simplify and harmonise trade by standardising warehouse receipt law. Participation in associations and networks strengthens links to business practice and international institutions; also involved in a draft ICC regulation on electronic traditional documents and various R&D projects in the field of LNG and H2.

Beyond the University, founding member and co-chair of the CMR Advisory Council (cmr-ac.org); an international association of professors in the field of transport law, which pursues the non-profit goal of promoting the uniform application of the International Convention on the Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR). Board member of the Rolf Herber Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Teaching in the Field of Transport Law (rolf-herber-stiftung.de); board member of the German Society for Transport Law (dgtr.de); second chairman of the “Verein der Wirtschaftsingenieure für Transportwesen e.V.” (VdWT, vdwt.de).

Actively involved in the further development of teaching and research through co-editorship of the journals "Transportrecht" (shop.wolterskluwer-online.de/rechtsgebiete/weitere-themen/verkehrs-infrastrukturwesen/04175500-transportrecht.html); "Internationales Handelsrecht" (www.degruyterbrill.com/journal/key/ihr/html) and European Journal of Commercial Contract Law (EJCCL) (www.uitgeverijparis.nl/en/tijdschriften-online/european-journal-of-commercial-contract-law-ejccl-), as well as in various books and articles; see full list above.
