Chiara
Hi there! My name is Chiara and I’ve been studying Social Work since the 2024/25 winter semester. Would you like to know more about the course or life in Bremerhaven? If so, please feel free to send me a message.
More about me
Despite being a full-time degree programme, there are many practical placements that allow you to gain an insight into a wide variety of areas within social work, particularly during the first two semesters. This was very helpful for me, as it enabled me to discover which areas I enjoy and what my future working life might look like. A particular highlight of the Social Work degree programme in Bremerhaven is the transactional analysis seminars. Here, for example, we learn about various communication models and methods that we can apply in counselling situations. Self-reflection also plays a major role here, which is a great advantage in developing a professional attitude and constantly questioning it.
I moved to Bremerhaven for my studies and, thanks to the small campus and the close proximity to fellow students both within and outside my degree programme, I quickly got to know people and made new friends. I also particularly like the university’s location. Especially in summer, it’s lovely to be able to take a short walk along the sea wall before, after or between lectures. Living so close to the sea is a new experience for me, and I can say it was a good decision.
If you have any questions about the degree programme or student life in Bremerhaven, or if you’re still unsure about anything in general, please feel free to get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
