The Universities of Bremen and Bremerhaven Provide Information on Pathways and Prerequisites for a Professorship at a University of Applied Sciences

A professorship at a University of Applied Sciences (HAW) offers the opportunity to define your own areas of focus in research and/or teaching, combines academic freedom with institutional security, and allows for a healthy work-life balance.

But how does one become a professor at an HAW/FH? What are the prerequisites, and what factors should you consider when applying?

We invite you to join us—alongside professors from both institutions—to address these questions during an online information session hosted by the Universities of Applied Sciences of Bremen and Bremerhaven on Thursday, October 7, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m CET (Central European Time).

Discover just how diverse the pathways to an HAW/FH professorship can be, what daily life as a professor entails, and why taking the leap into a professorship at an HAW/FH might be a rewarding step for you.

🎓 Vom Studenten zum Lehrbeauftragten – Benjamin Küther bleibt der Hochschule Bremerhaven treu

Benjamin Küther kennt unsere Hochschule aus vielen Perspektiven: als Student, wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter und seit 2014 als Lehrbeauftragter. Als Experte für Innovationsmanagement und Marketing bringt er viel Praxisbezug in verschiedene Studiengänge ein – von „Mittelstandsökonomie“ im BWL-Studium bis zu „Marketing“ in der Digitalen Medienproduktion.

„An der Hochschule stehen die Menschen im Mittelpunkt“ – und genau das macht den Unterschied.

Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Prof. Dr. Barbara Kleine-Kalmer in der aktuellen Ausgabe der ZEIT für Forschung porträtiert wird. In dem Artikel gibt sie spannende Einblicke in ihren beruflichen Werdegang und ihren Alltag als Professorin an einer Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften. Besonders stolz macht uns ihre Aussage, dass es ihr an der Hochschule Bremerhaven so gut gefällt, weil hier die Menschen im Mittelpunkt stehen. Eine schöne Bestätigung für unsere gelebte Hochschulkultur.

🎬 Filmdreh auf dem Campus!

Vor Kurzem waren wir unterwegs, um ein Image-Video über die Hochschule als Arbeitgeberin zu drehen. Einige unserer Kolleg:innen standen vor der Kamera und erzählten, was ihre Arbeit bei uns besonders macht. Zudem entsteht ein weiteres Video, das das Berufsbild der HAW-Professur näher beleuchtet. Hierfür berichten drei Professor:innen unserer Hochschule aus ihrem Arbeitsalltag. Die Zusammenarbeit war großartig und wir sind jetzt schon gespannt auf das Ergebnis!
