Informatics - Trustworthy systems Master of Science

Security, reliability and transparency  Trustworthy systems

With the increasing digitalization of social processes, trust in IT systems are gaining increasing importance, as transparency is an essential key factor in understanding the complexity of processes and procedures. The entry requirement for the Master degree course is fundamental knowledge of informatics or business informatics. Building on this basic knowledge, lecturers and students work together on the implementation of concepts for security and reliability in software systems. Two Master projects, which are usually carried out in cooperation with a company, public administration organizations or non-profit organizations, are in the focus of this Master course.

Why choose this programme

  • Practice-based studies working on projects

At the core of the programme is the one-year master's project, in which the students, in cooperation with a company or another organisation, investigate an example of the topic of digitalisation and develop the project with an orientation towards application and research.
  • Topic-based modules flank the projects

The professional foundations for tackling the challenges of digitalisation in companies, organisations and society are imparted in topic-based modules.
  • Research and innovation

Current research topics related to the digitalisation of companies and organisations or from social discussions are always incorporated into the collaborative work with the students.

Actively shape digitalisation

Take responsibility for innovations in the context of digitalisation

The requirements of environmental, economic and social sustainability will shape the future development of companies and organisations. Without appropriate digitalisation strategies, these goals will be difficult to achieve. These challenges have to be faced by small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large corporations across all sectors. This means that the job market for experts in digitalisation is broadly diversified – from consulting and developing digitalisation strategies to implementing interdisciplinary projects.

The employability of our students is expressed in the attractiveness of the programme content for companies and organisations. Our students are often already recruited during their studies.

Studying at the interface between informatics and business administration

Design and implementation of interdisciplinary projects

The master's programme in Digitalisation, Innovation and Information Management is an application-oriented programme that starts at the interface between informatics and business administration. The core of the programme is the one-year master's project, in which our students develop solutions for a practice-based topic proposal in cooperation with companies or organisations.
The master's programme takes three semesters (90 CP) to complete. Most of the courses are taught in German, with a smaller number taught in English. The allocation of places aims for an interdisciplinary mix of students.
