Jaqueline Wolpmann receives award Bachelor's thesis about mourning

The Art Directors Club has presented the coveted ADC Talent Award for particularly outstanding design work. Jacqueline Wolpmann, a graduate of the Digital Media Production course at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, was awarded a Bronze Nail for her Bachelor's thesis, a book about dealing with grief. This makes her the first graduate of the university to win an award in this important industry competition

"Trauer macht mehr als AUA" is the title of the book. With it, Jacqueline Wolpmann wants to create a general awareness that grief is part of everyday life. "Death is an everyday companion. Nevertheless, mourning is often not a topic that is talked about in the Western world. We only find out how the loss feels when we become mourners ourselves. But then it is actually too late," says Jaqueline Wolpmann. In her book, she takes readers on a journey through grief and deals sensitively with the taboo subject. She tells of personal experiences, but at the same time also wants to impart specialist knowledge. For this purpose, she has designed her own typeface, made illustrations and written the texts herself. "Always with a little humour, because mourning is more than just being sad," says Wolpmann.

The Bachelor's thesis was supervised by Prof. Nicole Slink and teaching assistant Axel Stiehler. "The topic of grief is portrayed in such a sensitive and personal way that it touched me very much. Even during the supervision of the Bachelor's thesis, it was foreseeable that an outstanding piece of work would be produced," Nicole Slink praises her student.

The Art Directors Club is made up of experts from the design and advertising industry and awards prizes every year for the best work in the industry. 113 works were selected from 598 submissions for the ADC Talent Award.
