University and DLR shed light on maritime security

Research

Participation also possible digitally via live stream

How can maritime infrastructures be better protected? Why is cyber security important? How can cosmic particles be used to improve security in harbours? These and many other questions will be discussed by scientists from all over Europe at the MARESEC conference on 6 and 7 June. A public information event on the topic of ‘Maritime Security’ will take place on Friday, 7 June from 4 pm to 6 pm at the German Emigration Centre in Bremerhaven. Researchers from Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) will offer interested listeners exciting and generally understandable insights into current research topics and developments. Participation in the public event is free of charge. The organisers are also offering a live stream. Further information can be found at https://dlr.expert/maresec2024.

MARESEC is organised by DLR's Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures, which was awarded the Bremerhaven Science Prize this year. As part of the event, Prof. Dr Frank Arendt will give a keynote speech on 6 June on ‘Resilience of maritime transport chains - The logistics perspective’. On 7 June, Prof. Dr Lars Fischer will offer a session entitled ‘Expect us! - Set up your system as if it were a security laboratory’.
