Offshore Wind Energy MBA launches new digital learning platform

Online courses enable better collaboration with Japan in continuing education

Digital learning is one of the foundations of international continuing education. This enables course participation despite time and geographical differences. In the past, the Offshore Wind Energy MBA (OWEMBA) has already organised online courses for Japanese lecturers, students and employees in the field of wind energy. This year, the programme went one step further. Based on the new digital learning platform for continuing education at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the first course offered was "Introduction to Offshore Wind Energy".
Japan is focussing on the expansion of offshore wind energy as part of the energy transition. The companies need well-trained specialists for this. The internationally orientated Offshore Wind Energy MBA, which Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences offers together with the Business Academy Southwest in Esbjerg (Denmark), has now established itself as a further education programme for students and employees in the energy sector. A digital learning platform was recently introduced that enables various learning formats. This means that students can also take part in courses when they are unable to be on site. This concept is proving successful. "The “Introduction to Offshore Wind Energy” course was successfully held with over 50 participants. This meant that demand was twice as high as last year. The target group was students and lecturers from Japanese universities that are members of the Industry-Academia Consortium for Higher Education Programme on Offshore Wind, as well as employees from Japanese companies in the energy sector," says Prof. Dr Wolfgang Lukas, who helped develop the course. In the future, the co-operation with Japanese universities and companies will be further expanded.
