Information for refugees

WELCOME - Studierende engagieren sich für Flüchtlinge

Within the DAAD program "WELCOME - Studierende engagieren sich für Flüchtlinge" (WELCOME - students get involved with refugees), a project at the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven got granted for the integration of refugees (who have the ability and meet the requirements to study). This program is financed through the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven offers assistance for refugees with an academic background who intend to study at the University in Bremerhaven. Aim of these measures is the professional, linguistical and social integration of the target group into the university and the local social life.

Refugees interested in studying are informed about the various opportunities to expand their knowledge or the aim to study fulltime at the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven.

As auditors, refugees can attend lectures of their preferred degree program and participate in German classes offered by the university.

The measures are offered in addition to the already existing events for international students at the university. Those existing events, like the International StuCa or excursions, are also offered for refugees with an acedemic background in order to support their integration into the everyday university life.

Characteristics of this project can also be found on the homepage of the DAAD.Further information about programs and measures for refugees at universities can be found here. Information for refugees who want to study in Germany can be found on the pages of the campaign

The online language placement test onSET addresses refugees who want to do a language course before continuing or starting their studies in Germany. Registered refugees can take the test free of charge - in German or in English.
