Studies abroad (SMS)

The Erasmus+ programme gives the opportunity to students of Hochschule Bremerhaven - University of Applied Sciences to study one or two semesters at one of our European partner universities.  (verlinken). The students will expand their cultural and social skills and will furthermore become acquainted with other academic systems with different teaching and learning methods.

The programme provides students with the following benefits:

  • support in preparation of the stay abroad (cultural, linguistic, organisational)
  • academic recognition of studies abroad
  • exemption from tuition fees at the host university
  • financial support in terms of Erasmus+ funding
  • language support via the Online Linguistic Support (OLS)
  • special grants for students travelling with children
  • special grants for students with disabilities
  • multiple participations possible (up to 12 months in each of the following study cycles: Bachelor, Master, Doctorate; including participation in the ERASMUS+ study abroad programme)

Eligibility criteria for Erasmus+ studies abroad:

  • degree student at Hochschule Bremerhaven - University of Applied Sciences (enrolled and registered in a programme which, after successful completion, will be completed with a Bachelor or Master degree issued by Hochschule Bremerhaven)
  • minimum of two semesters completed at Hochschule Bremerhaven (only applies to Bachelor students)
  • study stay abroad at one of the Erasmus+ partner institutions of Hochschule Bremerhaven – University of Applied Sciences which is located in Erasmus+ programme country (excluding Germany and country of permanent residence)
  • duration of stay: between 3 and 12 consecutive months (without any interruptions)
  • the total duration of ERASMUS+ sponsored mobilities (including the participation in the previous programme ERASMUS LLP and participation in the ERASMUS internship programme SMP) does not exceed 12 months per study cycle (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate)
  • the home and host universities must hold a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE)
  • a mandatory language test (OLS) must be carried out before and after the mobility period for the following languages: Czech, Danish, Dutch English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish
  • adherence to all ERASMUS+ related rules and regulations as described in the Grant Agreement, the Learning Agreement and all other relevant documents and notifications
  • check with the International Office for additional eligibility criteria that may apply

Application deadlines:
15.03. for a semester abroad in the following winter semester or for the whole academic year
01.09. for a semester abroad in the following summer semester
