Tuition fees and study accounts

The Federal State of Bremen does not charge tuition fees. Only if your exceed 15 semesters of studying you will be charged 500 Euros per semester.

Once you start studying in Germany for the first time you will be granted a so-called study account which allows students to study 14 semesters without paying tuition. The enrolled students will be informed about the status of their accounts. Under certain circumstances the free-off charge semesters can be extended beyond 14 semesters. However, if you have already used all 14 semesters without graduating you will be required to pay a fee of 500 Euros for each additional semester. The law provides several exemptions to this obligation. The tuition fees are not included in the semester contribution and thus have to be paid separately.
