Inn2POWER (Innovation to Push Offshore Wind Energy Regions) is an EU project in the INTERREG North Sea Programme 2014 - 2020, with a project duration from November 2016 to October 2020. The aim of the project is to create appropriate conditions for improving innovation capacity of  small and medium-sized enterprises to facilitate their access to offshore wind energy.

The offshore wind industry is an important driver for economic development in the North Sea Region  and consists of a high proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially with  an increasing focus on operation and maintenance. These SMEs can face challenges due to their size, geographic location, complex procurement processes, high costs and a sometimes insufficient understanding of the (global) market for their services. This can be improved through cooperation at regional, sectoral and transnational level.

In close collaboration with eleven project partners from five European countries, the following project objectives are pursued:

  • Supporting SMEs to collaborate and enter new markets
  • Developing innovative concepts for port and harbour logistics and facilitating access to test and demonstration facilities
  • Improving the skills and availability of specialists and executive staff

Within this framework, University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven is developing an MBA programme for employees of SMEs in the offshore wind industry. In addition, communication tools are being developed to help SMEs recruit new employees.
