Conditions of participation and registration

Course registration begins once the course schedule is published which usually takes place on Monday of the week before lectures start. Since the number of participants is limited, students are required to register each course taken in General Studies at the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven. The registration of General Studies courses is exclusively made online. Students should access the system with the general university account provided by the Computing Center (ZBRV). In this way, eligible student status at the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven can be verified.

The registration of courses in General Studies is binding. Course withdrawals must be done either no later than four working days prior to the beginning of the course in question, or on the same day of the course by submitting a doctor's medical statement. Unexcused absences that prohibit the participation of other students may lead to exclusion from further registration of General Studies in the following semesters. Those students will be exclusively put on the waiting list.

For courses in General Studies, attendance is mandatory, which is confirmed by personal signatures. A successful participation requires at least a 80% attendance rate as well as the adequate course assessment.

Due to the attendance requirements, courses in General Studies cannot be attended parallel.

Examinations in General Studies are held during the courses. The examination forms of respective courses are explicated in the information sheet. The performace in course is graded. Whether the concrete grade is listed on the transcript of records or only the successful participation is determined by the respective examination regulations.

Examnation registration at Registration and Examination Office is not required. The grades are published in SGIS System.

The recognition of courses taken in General Studies  is decided by the individual study course.
