Student Steward Marine Resource Biotechnology

Hi there! I'm Christina and I've been studying Biotechnology of Marine Resources since 2020. I'm happy to be your student mentor as I'm happy to share my experiences and tips with you. Whether you have questions about studying, life in Bremerhaven or everyday university life, I'm here for you. Let's make the most of this exciting time at university!

More about me

My journey here began when I was 16 and visited northern Germany for the first time. I liked everything! The people, the landscapes and of course the sea. I quickly realized that I wanted to leave Bavaria and study in the north.
I looked at many courses at different universities, but none of them really grabbed me. It was only when I broadened my search to universities that I came across the Biotechnology of Marine Resources course in Bremerhaven. That's when I knew: this is it.
I've always found biology exciting, and after a one-day taster internship on Girl's Day, I knew that I wanted to go in this direction as a career. But a normal biology or biotechnology degree was out of the question for me, as I would like to specialize in one area during my Bachelor's degree: the sea. It has always fascinated me. I find this endless expanse and the fact that you can hardly imagine how much life and movement there is beneath the surface of the water incredibly exciting.
Our course is very broad in terms of content and offers many interesting modules. I particularly appreciate the fact that we do a lot of practical work and can apply the theory directly. The lab practicals are not only extremely instructive, but also really fun.

I look forward to supporting you with questions and challenges during your studies and hope that I can infect you with my enthusiasm for this exciting subject!
