After completing their degree, graduates will have received the best possible preparation for their career with in-depth research activities and specialist knowledge and skills. Structure of the programme: The first two semesters are dedicated to the foundations of engineering and natural sciences, which are applied to the area of food in supporting exercises and internships. The specialisation phase is introduced in subjects such as microbiology, food chemistry, food technology, food marketing or the foundations of logistics/materials management. Students can select from the food technology and food economics fields of study. The fourth semester is dedicated entirely to professional practice. Students are given the opportunity to gain an insight into their future profession in various food companies both in Germany and abroad. The seventh semester covers project management and human resource management before starting the bachelor’s thesis, which students can work on in collaboration with a company.
Every day we consume food and trust in its quality and safety. In order to ensure the population is adequately supplied with high-quality, safe and long-lasting food, detailed knowledge of technological processes and sound business management skills are necessary. The bachelor's programme in Food Technology/Food Economics (Lebensmitteltechnology/Lebensmittelwirtschaft) combines both. In addition to the classical engineering focus of food technology, a second focus offers a combination of engineering and business studies.
