Check-up for your bike
Coding campaign and free bike check on 18 September
Once again this year, Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub Bremerhaven (ADFC) and Bremerhaven City Council are organising a joint bike check day. On Wednesday, 18 September, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., bicycle enthusiasts can have their lights, brakes, tyres and much more checked free of charge in front of the ‘Bike Box’ on the university campus (An der Karlstadt 8, between House V and House M). In addition, the ADFC will be offering bicycle coding for a fee. The event is taking place as part of European Mobility Week 2024.
In addition to the free roadworthiness check, minor repairs can also be carried out directly on site. The student employees of the ‘Bike Box’, the university's own self-help workshop for cyclists, will provide support.
Bicycle coding serves to prevent theft and makes it easier for the police to assign found bicycles to their rightful owners. Coding is subject to a charge and is only possible on presentation of proof of purchase and a valid identity card.
Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences is actively committed to environmentally friendly mobility and has therefore created an extensive bicycle infrastructure. On campus, cyclists will find the ‘BikeBox’ as a self-help workshop, covered bicycle shelters and e-bike charging stations. These measures not only help to reduce CO₂ emissions, but also promote the health and well-being of the university community. Further information can be found at www.hs-bremerhaven.de/fahrrad.
