Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences mourns the loss of honorary citizen Brunhild Ritzenhoff
Long-standing commitment to the university
Brunhild Ritzenhoff was committed to Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences for many years. As a member of the Cuxhaven district council, the Green politician campaigned for the educational institution to be recognised as a driver of innovation in the region. She supported co-operation efforts with institutions and companies and initiated resolutions by the district council for the promotion and further expansion of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences.
Brunhild Ritzenhoff also supported Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences outside of politics. Among other things, she donated the glasses that graduates received on graduation for many years. She was also active in the Verein zur Förderung der Hochschule Bremerhaven e.V. (Association for the Promotion of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences).
For her great personal commitment, Brunhild Ritzenhoff was made an honorary citizen by the Academic Senate of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences in 2009. ‘As a politician and citizen, she is a committed ambassador and supporter of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences and has rendered outstanding services to its reputation and expansion,’ said then Rector Prof Dr Josef Stockemer, explaining the decision.
Brunhild Ritzenhoff passed away on 8 November 2024 at the age of 85.
Her many years of commitment to our university will be remembered forever.
We will honour her memory.
