Commitment to sustainability in the ports of Bremen

University lecturer and scientist Prof Dr Benjamin Wagner vom Berg has been nominated for the Green Focus Award in the ‘Commitment’ category. This year, for the first time, bremenports is honouring a person who has shown particular commitment to the topic of ‘sustainability in the ports of Bremen’. The winners in this and two other categories will be announced during the award ceremony at ENVOCONNECT 2024 on 19 September in the Klimahaus Bremerhaven.

‘I am extremely pleased about this nomination and feel very honoured. The nomination alone is a wonderful recognition and a great motivation to continue working on the defossilisation of our ports,’ says Prof. Dr.-Ing Wagner vom Berg.

bremenports has presented the Green Focus Award in two categories once a year since 2014. The award honours the ship with the lowest emissions that has called at the ports of Bremen and the shipping company with the lowest-emission fleet overall. A new addition this year is the ‘Commitment’ category, for which potential award winners could be nominated. Three of these were nominated for the award. The decision on who receives the award is made by a renowned jury of sustainability stakeholders from Bremen and Bremerhaven.
