A celebration of amateur music
Orchestra festival to be held at the university on 10 November
The Bremen State Music Council invites you to the orchestra festival in Bremerhaven's city centre on Sunday, 10 November 2024, from 11 am to 8:30 pm. From 12.30 pm, the event hall at Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences (House T, Room 002) will also become a stage for the amateur music scene. Anyone interested is cordially invited to the free event. Further information can be found at https://landesmusikrat-bremen.de/projekte-wettbewerbe/orchesterfestival-landesorchesterwettbewerb.
Strolling between concert venues, lingering here and there, getting to know an incredible number of different orchestral instruments and celebrating the lively, creative and colourful music scene together is possible at the orchestra festival. The orchestras and instrumental ensembles present themselves in encounter concerts in the main hall of Bremerhaven City Theatre, in the parish hall of the Great Church and in House T of Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences. Whether big band, handbell choir, bağlama ensemble, accordion orchestra, youth symphony orchestra or symphonic wind orchestra, whether jazz, classical, folk or oriental music - all musical styles have their place on one of the three stages. The highlight is the ‘side-by-side’ concert at 17:00 in the Bremerhaven City Theatre together with the professionals of the Philharmonic Orchestra and participating ensembles. The state orchestra competition is also part of the festival: ensembles that qualify here will be forwarded to the German Orchestra Competition, which will take place from 14-18 June 2025 in Mainz and Wiesbaden.
